Vanderburgh County officials prepare for coronavirus

Coronavirus Watch

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, (WEHT)- While there have been no confirmed cases in the area, Vanderburgh County officials are preparing for any possible coronavirus scenarios.

The county health department says it’s working with local hospitals and the EVSC to come up with a plan.

Health Department Administrator Joe Gries spoke before the county commission Tuesday.

“There are certainly things that we have to do if we do have a case here locally. We have to do contact investigations. We have to coordinate with the ISDH on what we investigate, who else might have the disease and who has been in contact with those folks, and have people tested, things of that nature.”

County leaders are encouraging business leaders to consider planning paid sick leave if any employees must be quarantined.
