Coroner: Woman dies after Evansville fire

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Officials are investigating the death of a woman related to a fire on Vanbibber Avenue on Friday.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner said 69-year-old Sandra Goings was treated at the scene by firefighters after they responded to a fire just before noon.

Officials with the Evansville Fire Department said Goings was removed from the garage, which was being used as a living space.

We’re told crews were able to get a pulse while on scene, however, she was later pronounced dead at St Vincent Hospital.

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday morning.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner, the Evansville Fire Department, and The Evansville Police Department are investigating the death.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
