HAUBSTADT, Ind. (WEHT) — Several agencies responded to a fire at a shooting range in Haubstadt on Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported at around 1:30 at the Full Metal Armory.

Firefighters said they found a fire in the basement in a mechanical room. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes.

Full Metal Armory posted on Facebook that everyone was safe and they closed for the rest of the day.

One person we talked to said they were celebrating their 18th birthday at the gun range when they noticed something was wrong.

“We noticed a lot of smoke coming out. We were like, ‘Well our guns can’t do that. There’s no way.’ So then we started inhaling a little bit and it started all coming in. It was like Joker with the laughing gas,” said Lucas Jones.

“We didn’t know what was going on. So we were like, ‘I don’t think this is supposed to happen. There’s no way.’ So my dad said we gotta get out of here. We gotta get the heck out of here, you know.”

No one was hurt in the fire. Firefighters also said the fire did not reach any guns or ammo.

Firefighters said they do not know what caused the fire at this time.

Officials said so many different agencies responded to the scene because a Haubstadt firefighter was having his wedding and they were covering for the department.
