EPD: Woman says she shot man who had been abusing her

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) Evansville Police are investigating after one person died in a shooting Friday morning.

Officers were called to Fulton and Georgia around 11:00 a.m. about a shooting. They found a man outside a building who had been shot. The man, James Krawetz Jr., 39, of Evansville, died at Deaconess Midtown.

A woman was nearby with a gunshot wound to her foot. The woman told officers she shot the man because he was abusing her. She was taken to the hospital and expected to survive her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. An autopsy for Krawetz is scheduled for Saturday.
