Two Evansville men arrested after police pursuit

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky police have arrested two men after a police pursuit in Hopkins County.

After a traffic stop of 29-year-old Letarion Gines and his passenger, 30-year-old Binnie Bryant Jr., Gines put his vehicle in drive, and began to flee. Trooper Winters, with the assistance of Trooper Cody Kromer, pursued the Gines for several miles, until his vehicle became disabled in a ditch.

Once his vehicle was disabled, Gines exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but was apprehended quickly. Bryant remained at the vehicle, and was also detained.

Further investigation revealed both Gines and Bryant were under the influence, and in possession of marijuana and handguns.

Letarion Gines was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center, where he was charged with the following:

  1. Speediing 26 MPH or > Speed Limit (Limited Access)
  2. Reckless Driving
  3. Failure to or Improper Signal
  4. Improper Use of Left Lane-Overtaking Vehicle
  5. Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
  6. Possession of Marijuana (Ehancement)
  7. Failure to Produce Insurance Card
  8. DUI 1st
  9. Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  10. Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (On Foot)
  11. Disregarding Stop Sign

Binnie Bryant Jr. was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center, where he was charged with the following:

  1. Public Intoxication- Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  2. Possession of Marijuana (Enhancement)
  3. Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
