The fire in Gibson County, which resulted from a train derailment, has burned itself out.

CSX continues to work with local, state, and federal officials at the site of Sunday evening’s train derailment in Gibson County.

Crews have made significant progress removing damaged, derailed cars and cleaning up debris.

CSX says its specialists will safely extinguish the remaining propane fire Tuesday, along with the fire department.

Track repairs are also being made in the area.

There is no timeline for the clean-up work, but work is being done around the clock to finish everything as safely as possible.

Residents and businesses affected by the evacuation order can click here to submit inconvenience expenses associated with the evacuation.

Residents must submit the following to complete the reimbursement application:
 

  • Driver’s license or other identification
  • Proof of residency (current utility bill)
  • Receipts for expenses (hotel bill, food receipt)
  • Proof of lost earnings (note from employer)
