Early Wednesday morning, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office say they attempted to stop a moped when the driver began to evade police.
Authorities say Richard Hidenrite, driver of the moped, attempted to evade law enforcement by going through the Star Trax Video Rental and jumping a curb.
They say Hidenrite then continued behind Chuckles Convenience Store.
We are told after finally stopping Hidenrite and his passenger, Shelly Daugherty, they conducted a search resulting in discovery of a meth smoking pipe in Hidenrite’s pocket.
Authorities say they also located a baggie of meth behind the Chuckles Convenience Center where the moped had just driven.
Hidenrite, of Owensboro, KY was arrested and charged with:
- No Tail Lamps
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree
- Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Daugherty, of Maceo, KY was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Both Hidenrite and Daugherty are lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
