The future Deaconess Aquatics Center in Evansville is one step closer to reality.
The Parks Board approved a construction manager and considered three bids to demolish the Old Garvin Pool.
The city plans to tear down the nearby shelter and tennis and basketball courts.
Work is slated to begin in the spring and finish by the summer of 2020.
Parks Director Brian Holtz says the team is still finalizing designs of the pool.
“Their connection to the local community, also obviously, their price and also the work they’ve done, their history fit well with what we were looking for.”
The city plans to build a new shelter and tennis and basketball courts somewhere else in Garvin Park.
