DNC: Day One Recap

Day one of the Democratic National Convention took place on Monday in Philadelphia.

Missing from the spotlight was DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz

She announced her resignation amid the firestorm over leaked emails.

Eyewitness News’ Staci DaSilva is in Philadelphia this week, and Monday she spoke to a delegate from Indiana on why he will still support Hillary Clinton.

As the gavel drops in Philadelphia, a split convention emerges with Bernie Sanders supporters holding out hope and Hillary Clinton supporters wanting unity.

Ed Adams from Mt. Vernon, IN says, “I think she just brings so much experience to the job, and especially for me, the final decision was the foreign policy. Shes’ already been in that arena. She knows all the players.”

Indiana delegate and Clinton supporter Ed Adams says he expected Wasserman Schults to resign as party chair after emails were leaked showing a possible bias for Clinton.

Sanders won Indiana with 52% of the vote.

“Bernie delegates that I’ve talked to, we had a little 8th District meeting this (Monday) morning. We are all on the same page that no matter what happens this week, we’re all going to leave here with one goal in mind, and that’s to have the next President of the United States be a Democrat,” says Adams.

Tuesday night, former President Bill Clinton is taking the stage.

On Wednesday, President Obama will be headlining followed by the presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton, firing up the delegates on Thursday.
