Does where you live impact how long you live?

Earlier this month, an investigation from our sister station in Indianapolis WISH showed life expectancy for people born and raised in downtown Indianapolis is less than 70 years.

Some groups are trying to figure out how to make lives last longer in that area.

Life expectancy for people raised in the 46225 zip code is the lowest in Marion County at just under 70 years.

Ten miles to the north, life expectancy jumps by 14 years, but why?

Lifestyles and access to health care, grocery stores, and decent jobs all impact life expectancy.

The Concord Center, which is right in the heart of the 46225 zip code is working on finding a solution.

Of the 2,000 people that regularly participate in the Concord Center Programs, most have access to health care, education resources, and are engaged.

The next step is finding those in the area that are not engaged.
