Some farmers at the Owensboro Farmers Market say this year’s drought has forced them to start using irrigation to keep their crops alive.

John Smith has been farming for nearly 25 years. While he’s seen years much worse than this, it doesn’t make it easier for farmers trying to make a living.

He says it can cost upwards of 400 to 500 dollars a year for irrigation. While Smith hates paying that much money, he says it’s the only way to support his business.
