Police in North Carolina try to figure out who hung a noose from a tree on the Duke University campus.
Students marched together on campus today chanting, “We’re not afraid. We stand together,” in response to the found noose.
It was discovered early Wednesday outside the school’s student center.
“I, as a person, and I, as the president of Duke University, find this symbol and what it symbolizes abhorrent. This university condemns the message that was put in circulation, and this university repudiates the message it gave about the kind of place this is. This university repudiates racism in all its forms as it repudiates every other form of discrimination,” said Duke University President Richard Broadhead.
This comes just weeks after a black female student said a group of white males chanted a racist song at her.
