Earning a badge and learning a skill

Hundreds of boy scouts took over USI Saturday for Merit Badge University.

18 different merit badges were available this year and Eyewitness News popped in to see the scouts earning their architecture badge.

The session focused on sustainability, historic context, and how architecture works throughout the community.

The point of the day was to learn a skill, a career or a hobby from professionals who do it every day. One scout tells us he was inspired.

“See, I want to be an architect, so I just think it’s cool you’re able to use your imagination and stuff like that,” said Dylan Sucher.

All classes were taught by professionals in the respective area.
