Crews in Evansville responded to a house fire in the 900 block of W Oregon St. on Wednesday night.
When fire crews were initially called to the scene at 10:42, the house was fully engulfed.
Racheal Shahan, a neighbor on the scene, says the home belongs to a family with three children.
Officials with the Evansville Fire Department tell us two female children were taken to the hospital, most likely for smoke inhalation.
There’s no word on the condition of the children at this time.
Officials say the other three family members, two adults and a male child, were able to get out of the home on their own.
Fire officials tell us the home did take extensive damage on the front side of both the first and second floors.
According to fire officials, the fire was tapped out before 11:45 and an investigator was on scene into the early morning hours Thursday.
There’s currently no word on the cause or origin of the fire.
