Police arrested a man Monday on charges of child neglect and dealing methamphetamine, after police said they found drugs in his SUV.

According to an Evansville Police Department affidavit, Jason L. Poole was caught driving 65mph in a 50mph zone between Garvin St. and Main St.

During the traffic stop, police said Poole told them he didn’t have a valid license. Police confirmed that he did have a suspended prior.

Poole consented to a search of the vehicle, police said.

According to police, numerous small Ziploc bags of crystal methamphetamine, a bag of marijuana, and paraphernalia were found in the car.

Poole’s four-year-old child was in the vehicle with Poole so DCS was called to the scene, police said.

The child was put into DCS custody while they attempted to find a suitable guardian.

Poole is charged with dealing methamphetamine, child neglect, driving while suspended prior, and possession of marijuana.
