A man was arrested Thursday, after police said he stole items from a store and tried to take off on a stolen bicycle.

On Thursday, Evansville police were called to the east side Target in reference to a theft.

Police said Jeffrey Fink was taking clothing items, putting them in a backpack, and then changing clothes in the store’s restroom.

Police said Fink actually damaged piping in the bathroom sink by trying to stuff clothing hangers into the underside of the sink.

As Fink tried to leave the store, he was approached by a loss prevention officer, police said.

At this point, police said Fink threw a cell phone taken from the store at the officer and took off running through the store.

Police said Fink took a mens Schwinn mountain bike off the shelf and kicked a fire exit open in the rear of the store – making a getaway on the stolen bike.

Police said, at first, they were unable to locate Fink.

However, Fink was later arrested.

He was charged with theft-shoplifting, theft of a bicycle, criminal mischief, possessing a syringe, and public intoxication.
