Dozens of Evansville Police officers received awards Monday for their actions in the line of duty, including two officers who saved a little girl’s life back in June.
More than four dozen officers received their awards for their actions ranging from showing bravery in a volatile situation to investigations netting big drug busts.
But two of those officers, who have only four years of tenure on the department combined, saved the life of a little girl just a few weeks ago.
Officers Kyle Thiry and Paul DeYoung helped save the life of an 8-year-old girl who was hit by a car back in June. While it’s certainly noteworthy to be recognized with the Bronze Merit Award, the officers say they were just doing their job.
