EPD: River Kitty Cat Cafe was swatting target

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Police in Evansville said someone reported a fake active shooter situation at River Kitty Cat Cafe on Saturday.

The caller told dispatch that he saw a man loading a gun and that the man threatening to kill everyone in the business.

Officers responded to the business on Main Street and quickly realized it was a false report.

Police believe the caller was from California.

Incidents like this are often called swatting, which is when someone makes a prank call to emergency services hoping a large police presence responds.
