Evansville Baptist ministers to begin Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial services

The Baptist Ministers and Deacons Alliance is set to kick-off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial services in Evansville, by hosting their 4th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Banquet.

The banquet is on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Old National Events Plaza.

This year’s guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss Jr., a Civil Rights activist and personal friend of both Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Martin Luther King Sr. 

Dr. Moss is an advocate for educational achievements, civil and human rights and social justice issues, and Regional Director of the Southern Leadership Conference.

There will also be a Memorial Service on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. 

The Rev. Dr. Fernando “Bernard” Mitchell, Pastor of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi, and chairman of the Late-Night Service for National Baptist Convention, will be the guest speaker.

This service is free and open to the public.

New Hope Baptist Church is located at 665 Dr. WR Brown Sr. Way in Evansville.
