Evansville BBQ Festival heats up downtown on day 2

EVANSVILLE, In. (WEHT) — Pit-masters from far and wide put their barbecue skills to the test in day two of Evanville’s first ever BBQ Festival.

Barbecuers spent the morning prepping their ribs, pulled pork and brisket before slicing them to perfection Saturday afternoon for the official judging competition.

Pit-masters from around the Tri-State came out to compete to be crowned Evansville’s best barbecuer.

The event was open to ages and included music and other food vendors.
One pit-master says his business his a family affair and this event holds a special place in his heart.

“We did this as kind of a memory for my dad, we lost him about two months ago,” said Zach Neumann of Oink-N-Squeel. “So, it’s kind of doing it in his honor you know, see what we can do. It’s the first contest by ourselves without him.”
