Evansville City Council Okays Downtown Hotel Project

The downtown hotel project gets the last, official okay for construction. The Evansville City Council unanimously approved it at tonight’s meeting. As the votes were tallied, several of the council members expressed their excitement about a downtown convention hotel and appreciation that Mayor Lloyd Winnecke offered major concessions for the project. He dropped the proposed retail area from the project and lowered the amount of public subsidy from $31.5 million to $20 million.
HCW of Branson, Missouri has been chosen to build and operate the hotel.
