Evansville Councilwoman wants new rules for littering on private properties

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville City Council member wants new rules for unsolicited materials on private properties.

This deals with advertising leaflets, political campaign flyers – even phone books.

Councilwoman Michelle Mercer wants to reduce litter.

Mercer also proposed the first violation be a written warning with fines after that.

The mayor’s office wants this enforced by code enforcement and not the building commission.
