An Evansville man serving a 50-year sentence for the murder of a 16-year-old girl is going before a Vanderburgh County judge to request his case be overturned.
Joshua Fairley, now 36, pleaded guilty to killing Haley Green at his home in 2010.
Investigators found Fairley with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was arrested after several weeks in the hospital.
It’s the head injury Fairley’s attorneys say caused him to not be in the right mental state when he pleaded guilty to charges in 2011.
Eyewitness News is told it could be months before a judge makes a decision.
