Evansville Pub Under New Ownership, Expected to Reopen in May

News

An Evansville Arts District landmark that just closed is getting a second chance with new ownership.

After more than 40 years in business, the Haynie’s Corner Pub in Evansville shut down earlier this week.

A new owner has stepped up and is making plans for the bar and grill on Parrett St.

Moriah Hobgood said she’s had her eye on the spot for quite awhile.

“I always looked out the window and thought ‘that place is such a cool building.’ We’d come after work and hang out — have drinks here. When I started looking to do my own place, I thought ‘I really, really like the pub’ so I came , looked, and all the cards fell into the right places,” said Hobgood.

Hobgood said she plans to paint and redecorate.

The new name will be “Mo’s House” and she hopes to be open in late May.
