An Evansville staple is turning 75 this year.
Mayse Farm Market on St. Joe has come a long way. Owner Paul Mayse says his parents first set up shop in the 1940’s.
He says they used to pick their crops with a horse and sled, now they use a tractor for their 90 acres of land – selling most of their produce at the farm market.
“We pick everything in the mornings everyday and you can see our tractors come in out of the fields,” said Mayse, “You know you get more nutrients in your vegetables than you would with something that’s been shipped in for 3 or 4 weeks.”
Mayse says their sweet corn and tomatoes are doing well despite the heavy rain we’ve been seeing.
He says he plans on having a customer appreciation day on August 29.
