EVSC students get first-hand look at medical professions at St. Vincent

News

For the next two weeks, sophomores enrolled in EVSC’s Medical Professions Academy will get a first-hand look at the medical field.

Students attended the Stop the Bleed event in partnership with St. Vincent.

It provided hands-on activities, tours of the ER, Pharmacy, imaging and rehab from professionals in those fields.

The program is designed to help students who want to pursue the profession in college.

“It’s valuable experience they can’t get anywhere else. I know it’s one of the only programs like this in the state of IN, specifically in southwest IN where they get this valuable field experience and we hope they’ll go to pursue post-secondary education and they bring jobs back to this area whether it’s with St. Vincent or Deaconess Health System.”

The Medical Professions Academy is part of EVSC’s Innovative Model Program.

Students have also been able to work with Deaconess, along with medical centers in Indianapolis.
