Wednesday was the first day of school for ten school districts in the Tri-State, including Vanderburgh, Daviess, and Henderson Counties. In the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC), 23,000 students headed back to the classroom.
Parents could be seen walking their children into the school hand-in-hand, some even taking a moment to snap their annual back-to-school pictures.
Superintendent David Smith greeted students back on their first day.
Some students were glad to be back after a fun and educational summer.
The EVSC’s new school, McCutchanville Elementary, holds more than 700 students.
Not every kid was excited about going back to school.
If your child is already waiting for school to be over, mark your calendar for May 22.
