Family reacts to Evansville native being crowned Miss Indiana USA

A former Miss Vanderburgh County is now Miss Indiana USA.

Evansville native and Butler University student Tate Fritchley was crowned Miss Indiana USA this weekend in Indianapolis.

Fritchley was Miss Vanderburgh County 2016 and later went on to be crowned Miss Indiana State Fair.

Eyewitness News met up with the North High School graduate’s biggest fans, her family, who were there cheering her on in the audience.

Her father Paul Fritchley said it was a bittersweet moment when his little girl took the crown.

“I think my words were oh my, because I knew that it was, my heart sank, because my little girl was now a woman,” said Fritchley.

Fritchley will go on to compete in the national Miss USA pageant in May, where her family will be cheering her on from the audience.
