A project schedule was developed for possible jail expansion.

The timeline starts on September 1, with the renovation being completed in March of 2022.

Under the study, it was recommended that room be built for an additional 900 inmates.

That recommendation would cost an additional .1% in tax revenue, according to the study. The total project cost for that option would be about $7.9 million annually – requiring an additional $4 million per year.

The study does include other options, two of which would actually require less money than what is currently available for the jail expansion.
