Federal prosecutors will not be filing charges against George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Thursday marks three years to the day since Martin was killed.

A Florida jury acquitted Zimmerman of second-degree murder charges last year. He was accused of pre-judging Martin as a ‘suspicious person’ when he shot the teen.

His attorneys contend Zimmerman feared for his safety and shot Martin in self-defense.

Officials with the Justice Department say there is no evidence to prove Zimmerman intentionally violated Martin’s civil rights.
