Ferdinand Continues to Battle Bacteria in Water

Since last Fall, the town of Ferdinand, Indiana, has been treating bacteria illegally dumped in its waste water treatment center.  But getting ready of the bacteria has not been easy.

Eyewitness News’ media partner NewsNow Dubois County reports drinking water has not been affected. But the town describes this as the worst of the worst bacteria that can invade a municipal wastewater treatment plant.

Left untreated, the bacteria can eat into pipes, manholes, and cause other damage.

The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, even the FBI, has looked into who may have done the illegal waste dumping. It’s believed the haulers were from out of the immediate area.
