Forever 21 declares bankruptcy but local store stays open

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- Clothing retailer Forever 21 is selling off assets after declaring bankruptcy. Despite this, officials with the Forever 21 outlet at Eastland mall tell Eyewitness News they will remain open.

A court filing says a consortium is buying the retailer for $81 million. The buyer is made up of two mall operations and a brand management firm. Forever 21 stores have been struggling to compete with online retailers in recent years.
