Former Jamaican bobsled Olympian visits Tri-State school

Students at Daviess County High School got a motivating start to their morning on Tuesday from a former Olympian.

Devon Harris, a former member of the Jamaican bobsled team, spoke to students.

He was one of the founding members of the team, whose career was the basis of the movie “Cool Runnings.”

The three-time Olympian told students they can be whatever they want to be once they get past their circumstances.

“Success is based on universal principles, regardless of where you’re from. I think sharing my story and the principle I’ve learned from, those experiences are things they can apply to their lives as well,” said Harris.

Harris also shared stories of his time with the bobsled team and competing in the Winter Olympics.
