A former Madisonville licensed insurance agent has been indicted and charged with wire fraud.

Jerry Wayne Simpson, of Madisonville, KY, was a former licensed insurance agent for Thrivent Investment Management, Inc.

He was indicted on December 12, 2018 for three counts of wire fraud.

Simpson is accused of wiring nearly $260,000 into his personal bank accounts from customer who had purchased annuities and life insurance policies.

Simpson is also accused of withdrawing $248,000 from a client’s bank account and depositing the money into his own bank account between November 2016 and August 2017.

There is no court date scheduled for Simpson at this time.

But if he is found guilty, he could face forfeiture, restitution, $250,000 in fines and up to 20 years in prison.
