OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — A popular summer event in Owensboro will not be happening this year.
Organizers of Friday After 5 have decided to cancel their 2020 season due to the coronavirus.
The board says it carefully considered all options but felt this is the best way to proceed out of an abundance of caution.
Despite the best efforts and intentions, it is simply no longer possible to execute the summer
experience safely. Following the recommendations of local, regional, and national health experts,
along with the policies of our venue partners, the RiverPark Center, the Owensboro Convention
Center, and the City of Owensboro, this is believed to be the right decision. First, it was going to
be month to month but there are too many unknowns with business partners that may be
struggling, bands traveling, when would the community be comfortable, or even be allowed to
gather in large groups. This decision was hard to make.
“Friday After 5 remains committed to creating a memorable experience in 2021, it is, after all, the 25th Anniversary,” Interim Executive Director Starr Nalley said.
