Early voting totals may be comparable to years past, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot. Saturday evening Vanderburgh County Democrats held a “Get Out the Vote Rally” at IBEW Local 16 on Evansville’s north side. Many candidates see the current early voting totals as a bleak indicator of this year’s voter turnout.
“We know it’s going to be a low turnout year this year that’s for certain,” says State Representative Candidate, Tony Goben. “The numbers are telling us that now as far as early voting. But, you know, we just want to remind people, Election Day is just a few days away. We need all of our people to get out and vote and that’s what we’re here to do is just get people motivated, try to get the momentum up and hopefully that will bring out the vote.”
The rally was open to the public. It featured local and state level democratic candidates.
