GIBSON Co., Ind. (WEHT) — An Owensville man is in jail after a two-hour standoff with Gibson County Deputies Monday night.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State police responded to a call of a vehicle in the middle of the roadway on County Road 550 South, just east of County Road 125 West, at 8:56 p.m.
Authorities quickly identified the person inside as 27-year-old Zachary Garrett of Owensville.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, past experience with Garrett have involved firearms and erratic behavior.
After refusing to get out of the vehicle, deputies fired several pepperball rounds.
Deputies tell Eyewitness News Garrett still ignored their orders to get out, and at that time a trooper sent in a K9 officer.
Garrett was then taken into custody.
After medical clearance, Garrett was booked into the Gibson County Jail.
Garrett faces charges of of Resisting Law Enforcement, Fleeing in a Vehicle, Intimidation of a Police Officer, and Obstruction of Traffic.
