DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Ground was broken on the new Daviess County Middle School.
The school will replace the current one just off East 4th Street.
School officials say the school will have three pods with ten classrooms each, with its own storm shelter, and an outdoor courtyard that is surrounded by the school.
We’re told the cost for the new school is about $40 million.
“If you look at the old school, the current Daviess County Middle School, it’s more than 80 years old. It’s a multi-story school and it’s our poorest condition school in the current state that it’s in. So, it was time for a replacement of that building.”
The school is expected to open in august of 2021.
