HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The City of Henderson Board of Commission has made some changes to its Fireworks ordinance.

After an ordinance review last month, commission members requested to change the distance for the use of fireworks to 400 feet away from an animal shelter, nursing home or hospital.

Other changes in the ordinance include restrictions on structures at fireworks retailers and the prohibition of the sale or use of sky lanterns.

The fire department recommended this because the lanterns are considered a fire hazard and banned in several states.

The meeting on Sept. 24th has been canceled due to training and participation in the Kentucky League of Cities annual conference.

Their next meeting will be on Oct. 8th at 5:30 p.m. at the Henderson Municipal Center.
