It is a day of the year that many look forward to: Play day at Holiday World. It’s an event where many Tri-State children with special needs are able to ride almost any ride they want, with short lines, fewer crowds, and all while benefiting Easter Seals.
Holiday World Director Leah Koch was very excited to attend her first Play Day. She said that seeing the smiles on all the kids faces today was very rewarding.
Parent Sherri Gilmore was one the many parents who brought their child to today’s event. She said that sometimes it’s difficult to get children out and other people don’t understand how children behave. Marlea Gilmore, Sherry’s daughter, said that her favorite ride was the boats because she got wet.
With today’s warm temperatures, the water rides seemed to be the most popular. Kendra Schultz said her son loved the water area as it’s his favorite part of the park. She said they she saved that part of the park until the end so he could enjoy it for a couple of hours.
It wasn’t just enjoyment for the children today, but also the parents. Misty Humpert has a three year old daughter who doesn’t have much patience for lines, so today was very nice for her and her daughter.
