Children with disabilities will enjoy a special day at Holiday World on Wednesday.
Wednesday, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., rain or shine, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari will celebrate their 25th Annual ‘Play Day,’ a special day for area children with disabilities.
Approximately 3,500 area children with disabilities, their teachers and adult chaperones are expected to visit the park, which will be open only for Play Day.
School groups from throughout southern Indiana, southern Illinois and western Kentucky will participate.
For the 25th year, Holiday World will donate all Play Day admissions to Easterseals.
This year’s gift of approximately $37,950 will go toward two projects:
- Completing improvements at Will’s Way Playground at the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center’s therapeutic preschool; the playground was recently named in memory of Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s late President Will Koch and his positive, can-do attitude: “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way.”
- Updated furnishings, equipment and supplies for Easterseals Milestones Child Development Center will provide inclusive early care and education for up to 200 children of differing abilities, six weeks to six years old.
An Easterseals Ambassador will demonstrate a newly-accessible carousel, and Holiday World will donate $38,000 in proceeds to the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center.
Industry polls have consistently rated Holiday World among the friendliest and cleanest parks in the world.
