Honor Flight seeking letters for veterans

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – In a little more than two weeks, 85 veterans and their families will leave the Tri-State and head to DC for the next Honor Flight.

The plane will be loaded up on the morning of October 5, 2019.

Veterans will be going to Washington DC to visit the memorials in their honor.

As the vets of World War II, Korea and Vietnam head home, they’ll be opening letters and thank you cards.

The Honor Flight is asking for more of those cards to be donated to make the day extra special for the men and women who are looking forward to it.

“We can just take generic cards, letters, whatever it might be. We pass those out on the flight home, so that they can read letters. We call it ‘mail call’, just like they would have received when they were serving back with the military.”

The cards don’t have to be addressed to anyone specific.

They can be dropped off at any Old National Bank location or Golden Corral in Evansville.

The address for Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is P.O. Box 8234, Evansville, Indiana 47716.
