A bill to oust Glenda Ritz as the chair of the Indiana State Board of Education is one step closer to becoming law.

The measure passed the house on Tuesday. As the bill stands now, the board would be made up of nine members.

Four of which would be appointed by the governor. Four would also be appointed by the general assembly, all of which would collectively choose a chair person, instead of falling under the leadership of a state superintendent.
