Housing Projects Get State Money

Some Evansville housing projects are getting a financial boost from the state.

One aims to house chronically homeless people.

Echo Housing’s planned Garvin lofts will reuse a former heating and air building at Iowa and Garvin Streets.

The space will become 27 living units and was awarded more than $1.3 million.

This is in Evansville’s Promise Zone, which is a federal designation highlighting neighborhoods in need of help.

Promise Zone provides a pipeline for federal and state money to the local level.
