Hydroplane driver killed during practice


MADISON, Ind. (CNN) – A hydroplane driver was killed Saturday during a practice run ahead of the Madison Regatta.

Officials said the 60-year-old driver was ejected from the open cockpit of the vintage hydroplane, after hitting a wake.

He was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead.

Despite the death, the Regatta continued through Sunday.
