ILLINOIS (WCIA) – The official report card for Illinois is out now.
The State Board of Education is highlighting nearly 3,200 schools were either exemplary or commendable.
But 550 schools are underperforming.
Many of these schools are in rural and urban communities.
While the state board says the state’s support and accountability system has really helped schools around the state succeed, they believe another program will help get the underperforming schools back on track.
“Illinois Empower makes available approved learning partners they can work with to really focus on the different areas they may need assistance in and with our underperforming and lowest performing, there are also federal funds associated that we can put towards those schools and districts and really help them make improvements where needed.”
Illinois Empower is a statewide support system.
