Indiana American Water is holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday to announce plans for a $1.4 million solar energy project at its Newburgh Operations & Treatment Facility.
The event will be held at 11 a.m. a the construction site for the new facility at 5622 State Road 66 in Newburgh.
When it’s completed later this year, the solar array will provide enough power to meet the energy needs of the company’s water treatment facilities in the area.
It will also abate nearly 500 tons of CO2 emissions annually, according to Indiana American Water.
