Indiana’s Attorney General Gregg Zoeller is warning homeowners impacted by floods or tornadoes to beware of storm-chasing scam artists.

Scammers, often out-of-town contractors, go door-to-door and victimize people with discounts and the need for immediate action.

So far this year, the Attorney General’s Office has received nearly 1,000 complaints related to home improvement scams.

People had the most problems with roofing, chimney, and gutter work.

An important piece of advice is to do your research on the contractor and to get more than one quote.
