Indiana University suspends travel to China for students, staff


EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Indiana University issued a statement on Friday, suspending travel to China amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The press release stated: “Indiana University, in accordance with guidance from the CDC and other federal agencies, is suspending travel to China for all faculty, staff and students. This suspension will be reconsidered when advisories are modified.”

The University also said there are no known cases in the IU community at this time and that the risk to the IU campuses remains low. 

IU will consider exceptions for humanitarian reasons for those traveling to countries to assist with pandemic response.
