The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has closed State Road 145 in Dubois County.

On Tuesday, INDOT crews performed an inspection on the bridge, seven miles south of Birdseye near South County Road 900 East.

During the course of the inspection, crews found major erosion on the bridge.

The damage was so extensive, it was recommended the bridge be closed to through traffic until repairs could be made.

INDOT is currently working toward a temporary solution to re-open the road, but there is no timeline for deployment.

INDOT is working toward delivering a permanent solution as quickly as possible.
